Settling In
It feels as though everything is starting to settle down and fall into the routines that we are used to having in our classroom. It's always interesting to have to "start over" teaching routines and adding different "choices" into the Daily 5 menu. I have to remind myself that these students need to be taught the routines...it doesn't come automatically! Some students are starting to show that they are more comfortable in school as some behaviors start to rise. That all about learning the routines as well. It is always a challenge at our school as things don't seem to settle in until after powwow. Although we start teaching on day 1. Groupings and PLCs are in full effect until the week after powwow and that is when testing starts so it seems like it will be a week after that even. So next week, we should be confident in our groups to start the year. And interventions will start for 2nd grade although there are still some grades that are still testing! Here we go! I can't wait to see the progress now that we have all the baseline scores in place!

JUST BACK TO SCHOOL ON YEAR 21!
It's so hard to believe that I have been teaching for so many years. It's always exciting to come back and see the excitement of the students...new and returning! I am a support teacher for 2nd grade again this year. It is possible that 2nd grade will need to split and have two classrooms. For now, I will not do 3rd grade intervention and just support the 2nd grade classroom as needed. For my professional growth this year, I plan to video myself as a teacher and work with Laura for observations to identify areas where I can be more effective in my teaching. I am anxious and excited to do this and it is definitely an area that I am pushing myself outside of my comfort zone.
